Why is it easier for a male voice to fill a room than a female's(in most cases)?

i think its because the deeper voices of males are easier to hear for our ears, and higher sounds are more difficult to hear. for example dogs can hear really high-pitched whistles but we cant...but i dont know why :-/Why is it easier for a male voice to fill a room than a female's(in most cases)?
Uh, Leeroy is not the answer to pick. Low frequency is long wavelength, measured in hertz. Deep voices are low frequency. The fact that low frequency mens voices predominate might have something to do with resonance within the building materials themselves. The pitch or low frequency of male voices might have the potential to resonate better with the bricks or gyprock/plasterboard or wood used in most constructinos than that of females. In one of those ';sound-proof/baffled'; rooms that do not echo/resonate, a high pitch sounds as loud as a low pitch (tried that myself). Good question thoughWhy is it easier for a male voice to fill a room than a female's(in most cases)?
First of all, male voices are low frequency, which means that the wavelength is large. (Wavelength=speed of sound/frequency). Female voices are high frequency and hence the wavelength is shorter.

The perception that low frequency sound ';fills a room'; more easily than female voices is due to ';reverberation'; or the bouncing of sound around a room off walls, ceilings, etc. Now in general high frequency sounds are absorbed more readily than low frequency sound, by absorbent materials such as carpet, curtains, and people. Therefore after a fixed amount of time, high frequency sounds will have been absorbed and low frequency sound will still remain.

But of course it depends upon how much effort the male or female speaker puts into their voice!

Note: Female voices are actually easier to hear than male voices, because the sensitivity of the ear decreases as frequency decreases.
because mens voices have shorterwave lengths of sound so they trvel further...think about those people that have loud stereos...you hear the bass because they are short waves lengths, so they travel further. womens voices have a longer wavelength of sound so they dont travel as far

EDIT: now that you say something i do realize i had it backwards deeper voices are longer wavelengths while higher pitched voices have shorter wavelengths

Frequency. Voice with low frequency has better distribution in the environment than a higher voice.

2

Power. Men tend to have more powerful muscles for breathing and can produce louder voice.

3

Culture. If several female persons and one male person have a meeting, women tend to listen if the only man starts to tell something (at last...).

4

There are exceptions, of course: ladies with low voice, strong muscles for breathing and a tendency to ignore the ideas and feelings which men would like to express...
